What’s an Odd Fellow?
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows, IOOF, began in 18th Century, England, when it was deemed “odd” to find people organized for the purpose of giving aid to those in need without recognition and pursuing projects for the benefits of all mankind.
Odd Fellows are dedicated to the following purposes:
- Promoting the principles of friendship, love, truth, faith, hope and charity.
- Aiding each other, the community, the less fortunate, the youth and the elderly.
Ideally, an Odd Fellows lodge is a place for fellowship in all its forms, from hanging out and just having fun, to discussion, to networking, to collaboration on creative and constructive projects, all with an eye not only on our own satisfaction but on what we might offer to the community at large.
The action of each club is guided by the needs of its locality. The Geyserville Odd Fellows meets every 3rd Tuesday at 7 p.m. to discuss upcoming events and ongoing projects within the Hall and the community. We talk business, plan events, and tell stories. At the end of each meeting we gather and share dinner together, building friendships.
And yes, most of us are very “Odd.”
